We want to let you in on something big we’re planning to do today. It’s going to involve thousands of people, standing with girls and women around the world, and we need your help to really make a splash!
Two months ago, we launched a bold new campaign with a simple – but pretty powerful – message: Poverty is Sexist. And today, we’re trying something a bit different to spread this message far and wide…
Will you strike your power pose and stand #WithStrongGirls everywhere, letting the world know that together, we’re stronger?
No matter how you cut it – socially, economically, legally – girls and women in the poorest countries get a raw deal, and we won’t end this injustice unless world leaders act now to help girls and women reach their full potential.
All over the world, girls and women are showing their strength and fighting back. They are achieving extraordinary things, despite the barriers they face. Today, will you stand with them? Join the global surge of solidarity that’s starting in Africa, with these inspiring women, and spreading around the world.
We’ve joined forces with nine of Africa’s most talented artists to create a new anthem that celebrates the power of girls and women everywhere. ‘Strong Girl’ is a call to action for world leaders to empower girls and women in the poorest countries, so that they can lift their own communities out of poverty.
Show the world you stand #WithStrongGirls everywhere by posting your own photo version of the iconic ‘Rosie the Riveter’ image to your social media channels. Even better? Share this image #WithStrongGirls you know by taggingfemale family and friends (men can do this too) and encouraging them to strike a pose as well!
And that’s just the start. We’ll then find ingenious ways to get your photo seen by the world’s most powerful leaders when then meet for the ‘G7’ summit in Germany in just a few weeks. We’ll make sure they know that Poverty is Sexist, we refuse to accept it, and we expect them to act.
